Vision Twenty20

A vision for the school will be implemented with effect from 15/01/2007 followed by a ceremony graced by the Hon Minister of Education Mr. Susil Premajayantha.

About OBA

First Batch of students left the college in the year 1979 and the OBA was formed thereafter. First President of OBA was Mr. Ranjan Perera presently Managing director of soft logic. Comparatively a young OBA yet considered as the most energetic and active OBA in the island. OBA celebrated it’s 25th year in 2005.

DSS College

It was in the year 1967 that the then Honourable Minister of Education Mr. I. M. R. Irriyagolla invited our founder Principal Mr. R. I. T. Alles with the intention of starting a new school as an alternative to solve admissions to grade 1 in the city of Colombo. A small piece of land called Kumbikelle was given and several cadjan huts were put up to accommodate 167 children which were to be the very first batch of students of our beloved alma mater.

Sponsorship of Teacher Guides

To enhance the standard of Education in the School required by Vision 2020 program all teacher guides of the syllabus were printed to be

Computers Gifted to School

91 Batch Representative Fazal Hameed donated 5 computers to the school. Deputy Principal`s office, too were given another computer.

Athletic Long Jump Pit

OBA sponsored the most of the cost of the Pit.

ATM Machine

ATM Machine of HNB Bank installed at the OBA premises & the income is taken to the OBA. Jagath Amarasiri of 90 batch promoted the ATM machine to OBA.

Hoardings

Several promotional hoarding were placed around the pool side and the income is taken to the OBA.

Hostel Development

Five toilets were constructed, kitchen wiring was re-done, fridge was restored, hostel roof was attended and water supply was restored by three members of 92 Batch on the request of OBA.

Past Teacher Medical Clinic

Dr. Thushara Gunatillaka continued his social service during this year as well which he started three years ago and the cost of medicine was sponsored by OBA and 88 batch.

Old Boys Medical Clinic

A medical clinic for Old Boys is being held every Wednesday at OBA building and the screening is done by a panel of doctors headed by the Medical Foundation Chairman Dr. Randula Samarasinghe.

Old Senanayakians Sports Club

Foundation stone was laid and it is being constructed at the College Grounds. Exco expect to open same on 10th October 2009 after AGM.

15th Annual Scholarships award ceremony

15th Annual Scholarships award ceremony held on 27th February 2011. The annual scholarships award ceremony was managed by the DSS OBA 82 batch.

This will be the 15th consecutive year that we are organising this event which was mealy meant for the benefit of the deserving students of mother DS.

This project was funded by our batch members and few other sponsors who contribute annually together with the support extended by the OBA membership. A full sponsorship of a child is amounting to Rs. 10000/= for this year.

On behalf of the Scholarship fund committee I would like thank to all who supported us to make this event a success.
